Do Angels Exist?
“Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?” - Hebrews 1:14
Have you ever wondered if angels exist? Or, taking it one step further, have you ever had an encounter with someone and wondered if the person was actually an angel? Many of us, because this issue is extremely subjective and experiential, have a tendency to not really talk about it much. However, the Bible is not silent when it comes to talking about angels. The Word of God makes it very clear that angels do exist. And not only do they exist, but they are here to help us and serve us as followers of Christ.
Hebrews 1:14 makes this very clear, saying, “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?”
Isn’t that interesting? Angels are here to serve those of us who will inherit salvation. In other words, they are our spiritual backup. That means whether you think you have had an encounter with an angel or not, the Bible tells us that if we are following Jesus, the angels of the Lord have been sent to help us and protect us.
My biggest encouragement to you when it comes to talking about angels is that you make a point to discover what God’s Word says about them. We should all be careful not to lock in solely on our experiences. Our lives should be guided by Scripture first and foremost. If your experience contradicts the Word of God, then it’s not the Word of God that needs to be rearranged and reinterpreted to fit your experience. It’s your experience that must be viewed through a different lens in order for it to line up with Scripture.
With that in mind, I would encourage you to take some time to read some of the biblical accounts of angels in order to get more clarity and understanding on the topic. You can read the story of Daniel, as well as the birth, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus to get a better picture of how the Bible describes angels and their involvement on earth. As you’re reading, begin to pray and ask the Lord to give you clarity and discernment as you seek to gain understanding on angels, and He will honor your request.

I have had or witnessed experiences that I wondered if that was an angel that helped out. We need to be kind and friendly to everyone because you never know if the person really is an angel.
