Don’t Be Discouraged In Waiting For Your Miracle
“As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed him. Two blind me were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, ‘Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!’ The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, ‘Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!’” – Matthew 20:29-31
As another year comes to an end, most of us will take the time to look back on God’s past faithfulness over these last twelve months. I’m sure there are at least a handful of things you can point to as evidence of God’s work in your life this year. But there also might be something you’re still waiting for. Maybe you’re still holding out for a miracle, hoping God will act on your behalf sooner rather than later.
Waiting on God can be one of the toughest things about being a follower of Christ, but that waiting becomes even more difficult when we the people around us try to discourage us from waiting. You might have people like that in your life right now who are discouraging you from thinking you’ll ever receive your miracle. They say things like, “That will never happen” or “You need to pray differently” or “God isn’t moving in that direction.”
Matthew chapter 20 tells us about two men in Jericho who faced their fair share of opposition as they were waiting for their own miracle. As soon as the men began crying out to Jesus, they were told to quiet down, to stop embarrassing themselves, and to stop being a distraction to others. But what did they do? They called out to Jesus even louder than before.
We can learn a lot from these men who put more stock into their Savior than they did in the opinions of others. No one on this earth knows for sure how God is going to work in your life. They’re not the Holy Spirit, and they aren’t the ones capable of getting the miracle you’ve been praying for. Don’t let the discouragement of others negatively affect your capacity to have hope and faith in the Lord. Instead, when you start to feel discouraged by the voices around you, turn to the One with whom anything is possible, and who will do whatever He wants to do in your life, whether it seems feasible or not.

There are people in my life that don't want me to do certain things. They have their place for me. I know that God will use me wherever He wants to use me inspite of these other people.
