Serve Like Jesus
In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)
Has there ever been a time in your life when you thought something was missing? You needed to fill in the blank on your page, and you didn't know what it was. You remember when you turned from sin, placed your faith in Christ, and you followed Him with baptism. You got connected to a local church and you made prayer a priority. You made Bible study an important part of your life, but there was still something missing; and you didn't know what it was.
As we look to Scripture, we see the example that Jesus set for us in service. For many of us, serving is the one muscle of our faith that we are not exercising; that is why we feel like something is missing. Therefore, we need to make it a priority to serve those around us.
All of the Gospels reveal that Jesus was intimately involved in the lives of people who had needs. Where there was a need, He met it. Remember, He didn't heal everyone. He didn't meet every need; but for those individuals who crossed Jesus’ path, He showed up, met that need and served them in their need. When we do the very same thing, we are following the example of Christ.
I hope that you will pray and ask the Lord to give you opportunities to serve; then when those opportunities arise, you will gladly serve out of obedience to Christ. We are never more like Jesus than when we are serving, so don’t hesitate to serve those around you. Thereby, you can be a light for Him.

I remember when I was in a singles Bible study. Each person was telling us about the area that they felt they needed to be serving in. I felt like I needed to be serving, too. A friend suggested a place for me. I was an Awanas leader for 8 years. It was one of the most fulfilling ministries i ever experienced. I have served in many different ministries, also. Each one to help others find their way to Christ.
