Don't Be a Feather
"Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming." — Ephesians 4:14
Are you standing or floating?
I encourage you to stand with Israel and stand with a Biblical knowledge of what is right and what is wrong in our culture. As a believer, it is important that you take a stand. If you do not stand, you will be like a feather in the wind. Wherever it blows, you will go.
As a child of God, stop bending to the culture.
You have heard it said, "Any old dead log can float down the stream, but it takes a different character to stand for what the Bible says." That is where we stand as a church.
Dead logs don't choose their direction. They just float wherever the current takes them. Feathers don't decide where to land. They just blow wherever the wind pushes them.
Is that you? Are you just floating along with whatever the culture says is acceptable? Are you blown around by the latest trends, the newest philosophies, the popular opinions?
Do not buy into the woke agenda of liberalism in our country; it does not line up with the Word of God. As believers, we need to make sure we align with the Word of God unapologetically.
Some might say, "Pastor, don't say that. You will offend people." I have a responsibility to preach the Word, teach the Word, and to correctly divide the Word of Truth. I have a responsibility not to preach what the culture would like for me to preach. I have a responsibility to align with the Word of God.
The same is true for you. You have a responsibility to know what God's Word says and to stand on it—even when it's unpopular. Even when you're the only one standing.
It takes character to stand when everyone else is floating downstream. It takes conviction to stay planted when the wind is blowing hard.
Be a tree with deep roots, not a feather in the wind. Know what you believe. Know why you believe it. And stand firm.
The culture will keep shifting. God's Word never will. Stand on it.
