It’s Not a Money Problem
"The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?" — Jeremiah 17:9
Why do you struggle with giving?
If you are struggling with giving, it is not a financial issue. It is a heart issue. If you are not a generous giver, it is not that you don't have enough money in the bank. It is because you have a heart that is messed up.
That's hard to hear, isn't it? We want to blame our circumstances. We want to point to our bills, our debt, our limited income. We want to say, "When I have more, I'll give more."
But people with very little give generously every day. And people with plenty give nothing. The difference isn't in the bank account. It's in the heart.
"I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve" (Jeremiah 17:10).
God sees past your excuses. He knows whether your struggle is genuinely financial or conveniently heart-related.
A generous heart finds ways to give. A stingy heart finds reasons to withhold.
A generous heart sees needs everywhere. A stingy heart sees only its own.
A generous heart trusts God with the outcome. A stingy heart trusts only what it can control.
God wants you to be men and women who are givers. When that happens in your life, your heart will line up with Him. When your heart aligns with Him, He will show you what to give.
Stop blaming your budget. Start examining your heart. That's where the real issue lives.
