Keep on Keeping On
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." — Matthew 7:7
Have you given up too soon?
What does Jesus have to say about finding God's will? He said, "Ask, Seek, and Knock." But here's what you might not know: From the Koine Greek—the language of the New Testament—it actually says, "Keep on asking. Keep on seeking. Keep on knocking."
It's continuous action. Not a one-time request. Not a single attempt. Persistent, ongoing pursuit.
God will show you what He has for your life if you keep on keeping on and trust Him to speak to your heart and life. Many of us are hindered because we don't keep on keeping on.
And what keeps us from keeping on? Fear.
Fear of rejection. Fear of failure. Fear of the unknown. Fear of what God might actually say.
Many people would love to swim but they're afraid of the water. Unless you get in the water, you will never learn to swim. Many people would love to ride a horse, but unless you're willing to put a foot in the stirrup and throw your leg over the saddle and grab the reins, you will never learn.
Some people say, "I would love to have a date," but they've never asked someone because they're afraid of being rejected.
You might have some "crash and burn" experiences. But if you want to know the will of God—where there is great peace, protection, and purpose—you must engage.
Don't give up after the first ask. Don't quit after the first search. Don't walk away after the first knock.
Keep on keeping on. God rewards persistence.
