For Better or Worse
"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." — Galatians 6:2
What is your life teaching without words?
Let me pull you up to my kitchen table. My wife struggles physically. She's struggled for decades. She's got a better attitude than I do—she really does. She finds the humor where, if it was me in her circumstance, I'd be a whiner.
She didn't ask for the physical challenges, but she's sure dancing with who brought her.
And being married to someone who physically struggles, learning how to be a caretaker—it's not for sissies. It's not easy.
But you know what? I look at that and say, "Lord, I thank you that you are allowing us as a couple to walk through what we are walking through."
Because God wants to use you in the lives of your children. Our relationship as a couple has taught without words to our children. It's for better or worse. And if that's the only thing they can learn by watching their parents, then I can thank the Lord that God has trusted us with this situation.
"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love" (Ephesians 4:2).
Your children are watching. Your grandchildren are watching. The next generation is learning what commitment looks like by observing how you handle the hard seasons.
What is your life preaching when things don't go as planned? What sermon are you delivering without saying a word?
For better or worse. That's not just a vow—it's a testimony.
