They Will Answer for It
"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves." — Matthew 7:15
Have you ever been targeted by a religious scam?
You've probably seen it. Someone on television or online says, "God told me that if you give $777, because seven is the perfect number and three sevens together represent the trinity of perfection, then God will bless you beyond measure. But make sure you write that check to my ministry."
It sounds spiritual. It uses Bible language. It promises divine reward.
And it's a lie.
There are connivers and deceivers out there who speak to the greed and desperation of people looking for hope. They twist Scripture to manipulate. They exploit the vulnerable. And they do it all while wearing the mask of ministry.
"For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people" (Romans 16:18).
Here's what you need to know: God will hold them responsible for their error. You don't have to be their judge, but you do need to be discerning. Biblical generosity is never about paying for a blessing. It's never about a formula that guarantees return. It's about honoring God with a grateful heart, not feeding someone else's greed.
Give generously. Give joyfully. Give to your local church and to needs God puts in your path.
But don't let anyone con you into thinking your financial seed unlocks God's hand. His grace isn't for sale.
