The Word at Work
"So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." — Isaiah 55:11
Do you know what happens after you share the gospel?
Paul thanked God that when the Thessalonians heard his message, they received it not as human opinion but as the word of God. And then he added something powerful: that word "is indeed at work in you who believe."
At work. Present tense. Ongoing. Continuing.
When you share the message of Jesus with someone, whether it's family, friends, or strangers, that word doesn't stop working when the conversation ends. It keeps going. It takes root. It grows in ways you cannot see and may never know this side of heaven.
"For the word of God is alive and active" (Hebrews 4:12).
You plant the seed. God makes it grow. And His word never returns void.
This should give you tremendous confidence. You don't have to be the world's greatest communicator. You don't need perfect arguments or flawless delivery. You just need to share what God has said and trust that His word carries its own power.
The gospel you shared with your coworker last month? Still working. The Scripture you spoke over your child years ago? Still working. The truth you offered to a friend who seemed uninterested? Still working.
God's word doesn't expire. It doesn't lose potency over time. It accomplishes exactly what He sent it to do.
So keep speaking it. Keep sharing it. And trust that long after you walk away, the word is still at work.
