Stay in Love with Jesus
"Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first." — Revelation 2:4
When did you stop being amazed by Him?
The church at Ephesus had a lot going for them. They worked hard. They persevered. They couldn't tolerate wicked people. They tested false teachers. By most measures, they were doing everything right.
But Jesus had one thing against them: they had lost their first love.
Somewhere along the way, the fire had cooled. The passion had faded. They were still going through the motions, but the wonder was gone.
That can happen to any of us.
"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me" (Galatians 2:20).
Stay in love with Jesus. Not with a denomination. Not with a program. Not even with a church. Stay in love with Him.
If you stay in love with Jesus, you'll love the church. If you stay in love with Jesus, you'll want to serve. If you stay in love with Jesus, you'll worship with passion and share Him with others. Everything flows from that first love.
And if you've drifted, if the fire has dimmed, if you're going through the motions without the wonder, there's a simple solution: repent and return. Go back to where you started. Fall in love again.
He's waiting.
