Learning from Mary
And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me -- holy is his name.” (Luke 1:46-49)
As we celebrate the mothers in our lives, there is no greater mother in Scripture than Mary, the mother of Jesus. Let’s look at Mary’s story and pick three distinct lessons we can learn from Mary’s life. If you are a mother, I pray you will pay close attention to Mary’s story. This should give you the desire to emulate her example in the way she led her children and followed the Lord.
First, when God offers validation of His Word, you must investigate it. When the angel spoke to Mary, she ran to validate the angel’s Word. We should do the same. If you don’t have a personal faith based upon conviction from the Word of God, you cannot pass it along to your children. Your children need to go through the same process, to discover that God’s Word is always true and does not depend upon cultural acceptance.
Second, you must be a person who praises God. Luke 1:46-55 is a collection of Mary’s praising statements to the Father. She fully describes the greatness and faithfulness of God. He entrusted His Son to that kind of woman, one who knew how to practice praise. If you want to be a mother like Mary, set an example for your children and others around you of someone who praises the Lord.
Finally, you must stay close to other believers. Our story closes with this verse, Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home. (Luke 1:56) Why is this verse here? This verse was included to remind you how we need to be in fellowship with other believers. You have heard me say, “It takes three things to live the Christian life: Prayer, Bible Study and Fellowship with other Christians.” If it was true for Mary, it is true for us. We must learn to prioritize staying close to others and spending time with other believers.

I start every day in God's Word, I praise God but it never seems to be enough. I praise Him throughout the day, yet it never seems to be enough. I always associate with Christian friends. I try to show the love of God to all the rest of whomever I am around. I need to work on the last thing more, though
