Go Back To The Fundamentals

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. – Romans 12:2

When I was in college, I was wrestling with what God had planned for me. I was majoring in music and speech, and I knew He wanted me to go into ministry. I asked, “God, do you want me to be in music or do you want me to preach?”

Because I suddenly had the desire to preach, I was confused. I said, “God, why would you allow me to get to this place of confusion?” I was praying repeatedly, “God, what do you want? What do you want for my life?”

Every time I prayed, I thought my prayers just bounced off the floor of heaven. There was no answer. I finally said, “Lord, I'm apparently not in the right place. I am through asking.”

I stopped asking and said, “Jesus, I know I am called to walk with you, and I will stay in love with you regardless of what you have for me.” And guess what? When I came back to the fundamentals of just spending time with Him and developing a deeper relationship with Him, He suddenly began to speak to my heart.

God wants you to know His will more than you want to know it. God has a plan for your life. If you are not hearing what He has for you, go back to the fundamentals. Fall back in love with Jesus; start prioritizing your life to spend time alone with Him and spend time in His Word.
