Our Place in the Christmas Story

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” – Isaiah 9:6

Christmas is a celebration of Jesus—His humble birth in a manger and His sacrificial death on the cross. But it’s also a reminder that we are part of God’s ongoing story. Just as the first Christmas was filled with ordinary people called to extraordinary roles, we too have a place in God’s redemptive plan.

We can reflect the obedience of Joseph, who followed God’s direction despite the uncertainty. We can emulate Mary’s trust, saying, “Let it be to me according to your word.” Like the shepherds, we can proclaim the good news with joy, and like the wise men, we can give generously in worship. Each act of faith and obedience honors Jesus and furthers His mission in the world.

To truly celebrate Christmas, we must keep Christ at the center. Begin the day by reading Scripture and reflecting on the miracle of His birth. Teach your family about the significance of the manger, not just as the start of His life, but as the beginning of our salvation.

This Christmas, celebrate Jesus as the reason for the season and rejoice in the role He has given you in His story. Embrace His calling with faith, trust, and generosity, knowing that through Him, the Prince of Peace, you are part of something eternal.
