Our Real Enemy
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12)
I was watching the news the other night, and I found myself getting frustrated with all the political division and chaos in our world. I started thinking about all the people I disagreed with, and my heart was getting hard toward them. Then the Lord reminded me of this powerful truth from Ephesians – our real fight isn't with people at all.
You see, when we look at terrorism, political division, or the moral decline in our culture, it's easy to point fingers at people. We want to blame politicians, protesters, or anyone who disagrees with us. We get angry at our neighbors who vote differently or family members who believe differently. But Scripture makes it crystal clear: our struggle is not against flesh and blood.
The truth is, many of the people we're frustrated with are simply blinded by the enemy. They can't see that they're being used as pawns in a much bigger spiritual battle.
The real enemy prowling around like a roaring lion is Satan himself. He's the one stirring up division, hatred, and chaos. He's the mastermind behind terrorism, the author of confusion, and the promoter of every evil agenda. People are often just pawns in his hands, blinded by his deception.
This changes everything about how we respond. Instead of getting angry at people, we need to get on our knees in prayer. Instead of fighting flesh and blood, we need to fight with spiritual weapons. Instead of hating our enemies, we need to love them and pray for their eyes to be opened.
The next time you see something that makes your blood boil, remember who your real enemy is. Don't waste your energy fighting people – fight the spiritual forces behind the chaos. Pray for those who oppose you. Love those who hate you. And watch God work in ways you never imagined.
