Enjoy Every Moment
“Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” – James 4:14
One thing that seems to be common among all Christmas celebrations is that there always seems to be gatherings of people. This time of year, people make the effort to get together with those closest to them and to spend quality time with the ones they love.
Have you ever considered why this is something we only do around the holidays? Why are we so intentional about spending time with our loved ones during Christmas, but we don’t prioritize being together nearly as much throughout the rest of the year?
James gives us a great reminder in the New Testament when he says, “Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes” (James 4:14). In other words, life goes by so fast. And not only does it fly by, but we have no idea how much longer we have on earth. We aren’t guaranteed tomorrow. We aren’t even guaranteed our next breath.
So, with that in mind, what would it look like for you to prioritize quality time with your loved ones throughout the year just as much as you do at the end of the year? How would your life look different if you lived it with the mindset that your life is a vapor and could end at any moment?
My prayer for you is that you not only enjoy your time with your family and friends during the course of this holiday season, but that you also be more intentional moving forward to gather together with those people more than ever in the coming new year.

My family members would love to get together. Those we used to get together with are older now. Most of us don't want to drive very far and the younger ones don't want to take the time to transport us. We can however call one another. I have had 3 cousins pass away in the last 3 years. Time slips away so quickly.
