Hearing Directly from God
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
Have you ever found yourself wishing God would speak directly to you? Do you wish you could have an audible, back-and-forth conversation with God? Would it make things easier if we could talk to God and He could talk back?
Well, while it might not be an audible conversation, there is a way for us to hear directly from God, and that is through His Word: the Bible.
Paul says, All scripture is God-breathed. In fact, that phrase in the Greek language literally is the word picture of a flutist; “it is one who would blow air over an instrument to get a sound.” When the Scripture speaks of itself as being God-breathed, there is a holy conversation at play; so treat it like that!
When you open the Word of God, regardless of where you are in the Bible, you need to realize that you are having a holy conversation with God Himself. You are hearing the actual Words of God.
I have heard some people say, “I've never heard God speak.” Have you ever read the Word of God? If you have read verses in the Scriptures, you have heard God speak. Think about that for a second. If you want to hear His voice, read His Word. Sanctify your mind and realize, when you open the Word of God, you are having a holy conversation with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!
