A Faith Rooted in Fact
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” – Psalm 119:105
As Christians, our faith is rooted in fact, not just feeling. Stephen’s defense before the Sanhedrin powerfully demonstrates this truth. When asked if the accusations against him were true, Stephen did not respond with emotion or opinions. Instead, he said, “Let me tell you the facts.” He recounted God’s faithfulness throughout history, from Abraham and Moses to the promises fulfilled in Jesus.
Stephen’s faith was deeply grounded in the Word of God. He quoted stories from Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Deuteronomy, Joshua, 1 Samuel, and Isaiah. His defense showed how the Old Testament points to Christ and the cross. Stephen understood that “the reason the Old Testament is there is to point us to the cross.”
Our faith is deeply rooted in the Word of God. This is why it’s critical for us to study Scripture and understand the historical and spiritual truths it reveals. When we know God’s Word, we can stand firm in our faith, just as Stephen did, even when facing opposition or hardship.
Faith is not just about positive thinking or emotional highs. It is built on the unchanging truth of God’s promises and His work throughout history. Like Stephen, we are called to immerse ourselves in the Bible and allow its truths to shape our lives.

I love to read the Bible and learn more about how we are to live. The Old Testament is the prelude to Jesus's entering the earth. I have learned so much about how God works in people's lives.
Oh thank you. What a wonderful message.
