Why Support Israel?
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure.” – Psalm 122:6
As believers, we need to be linked with the nation of Israel. We need to support them. We need to pray for them because God’s Word instructs us to do so. But why is that the case? That’s the exact question we’re going to be answering over the next couple of days. In this devotion, we’re going to look at three reasons why we should support Israel. And then tomorrow, I pray you’ll come back as we discuss four additional reasons. Let’s dive in.
The first reason we should support and pray for Israel is that Israel was where the entire ministry of Jesus occurred. Jesus did His ministry and teaching in Israel. He was also persecuted, arrested, tortured, crucified, and killed in Israel. He died shedding His blood on the cross for your forgiveness and my forgiveness. He was buried in the area where the cross was located. On the third day, He rose from the dead; He made Himself known in His post-resurrection appearances in Israel. Finally, He ascended into heaven from Israel, specifically from the Mount of Olives, and He is coming back to that same place. Everything that God did through His Son, Jesus, was in Israel.
The second reason we are to support Israel is that Israel will be the location where Jesus will return. Jesus is coming back to the very same place He carried out His earthly ministry. If you want to be an eyewitness to Jesus’ second coming, you must be in Israel. Specifically, He will set foot on the Mount of Olives. According to the Old Testament, it will split in two and be separated from north to south.
The third reason we should pray for and support Israel is that Israel was where the church started. The early church started in Israel, and after Pentecost, it kept growing. The people in the church were engaged in fellowship, and they were connected. They were involved with each other, praying for each other, and longing to hear what God was speaking to them through the apostles’ teaching.
They were sharing with the believers what Jesus did, all the things He said, and how the Old Testament was fulfilled in Christ. They were a very eclectic group. They didn't have a church building; rather, they met in each other's homes. Many people were saved and gave their lives to Jesus through the work of the early church, and it all started in Israel.
As I said before, I encourage you to come back tomorrow as we continue this discussion and learn more about why we support the nation of Israel.

I don't understand your comment "If you want to see the 2nd coming of Jesus you must be in Israel." It says in Revelation that "every eye will see Him."

nRevelation 1:7: "He will come with the clouds, and every eye will see Him"

nPlease explain that comment.

So we’re supposed to support genoside? Starving babies? I don’t think Jesus would support that.
Mike-no one knows the mind of Jesus nor the will of God. He is all powerful and capable of doing anything. Christians who fear the lord, leave worldly topics and political rhetoric to times, places and people who are worldly and political. This devotional is meant to stir a fire for the love of Jesus, not, to stir the pot of division. I pray that God in His mercy leads you to the narrow gate and with grace, opens the gate for you to enter and find Him. In doing so, be relieved of your burdens- let God bring the joy of His love and everlasting peace into your life.
That will be such a wonderful thing. Jesus loves all children and doesn't want any to suffer ?
Psalbright- At the Divine moment when Jesus descends from the clouds and reveals himself to you, I pray that he will swoop down, pick you up and take you to Israel with him. All things are possible in Christ Jesus.
