The Sweet Voice of God
Then the voice that I had heard from heaven spoke to me once more: “Go, take the scroll that lies open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land.” So I went to the angel and asked him to give me the little scroll. He said to me, “Take it and eat it. It will turn your stomach sour, but ‘in your mouth it will be as sweet as honey.’” (Revelation 10:8-9)
In these Scripture verses, John got a fresh glimpse of the Lord in partnership. John was told very plainly, “I want you to get involved in God's plan.” We are to be in partnership with the Lord. That is how John saw things. The way we are to do that is to be in the Word, and the Word needs to be in us. John was told to take this little scroll (which is the Word of God) and eat it. It would be sweet in his mouth and turn sour in his stomach. You might say, “I don't get that.” Yes, you will, I promise you.
When you are in the Word of God and God begins to speak to you through His Word, it is sweet, really sweet. When you see the Word come alive and God speaks to you, it is exhilarating! It is awesome! It is spiritually empowering! We long for those moments in time when we know God is hearing us and He is speaking to us. It is sweet. Believers love the Word of God, and they love to read the Word of God. They love to understand the Word of God. They want the Word of God to be in them, and they want the Word of God to come out of them. That is part of the journey, and it is sweet.
Sadly, unbelievers are totally dead to this sweet experience. If you have never given your life to Christ, you are probably already turned off because this doesn't make sense to you. “God is speaking to you?” If you have never experienced that, you don't understand this at all. You don’t get it. Do you know why? Because you are dead on the inside, and you are dead in sins, the Bible says. You are insensitive to the Spirit of God. You might say, “I'm a spiritual person.” In reality, you are spiritually dead. You are probably more alive to darkness than you are to light. When you give your life to Christ, He gives you a sensitivity to His Word. When you read His Word, it comes alive to you, and it is sweet.
I pray that if you are not a follower of Christ, that you would make the decision to follow Him today, so that He can begin speaking to you. If you are a follower of Jesus, I pray that you will carve out time to listen to Him and hear Him speaking to you.

I love to read God's Word and to hear from God. I listen with my heart. I don't always hear His soft voice but I know He is with me
First Dr. Dodd, thanks much for your message based on the Holy Word of God. I wouldn't want to be living in this planet with out the truth we have in God's Holy Word. I try to read it everyday, it gives me the love, the forgiveness of my sins and peace where it cannot be found any other person but in our Savior Jesus Christ.
Every day I realize more how much GOD Loves Me. It's in His Word. Trust The Word. Thank YOU JESUS, PRAISE GOD !
