Qualities of a Church
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. (Colossians 3:16)
Yesterday, we discussed three qualities that are important to look for in a church home. Today, we will continue that list and discuss a few more important qualities to consider when looking for a new church, a True Church. You can also use these two lists to evaluate your current church.
The fourth attribute to evaluate is a church that loves to worship the Lord, and not just sing songs to each other. Find a church that is in love with singing the words to the Lord, regardless of what the melody sounds like. Every generation has a different sound. I think that is why God didn't save the musical lines and notes from the First Century. He allows all kinds of generations to express their worship to the Lord in their own musical genre. The melody is not that important; instead, focus more on the words you sing to the Lord.
Fifth, look for a church which has a heart for world evangelism, while also caring for the needs of its community. Can you see our walking orders? We don't need a new vision statement. Jesus gave us the Great Commission to make disciples of all nations. (Matthew 28:16-20) Simply find a church with a balanced ministry of world evangelism and local ministry.
Finally, look for a church that cares about your spiritual growth. Your church should care about you spiritually, your growth and your discipleship, more than anything else. If a church is not striving to help its people grow in their relationships with Jesus, the church will never grow and thrive as a body.
I know this has been quite an extensive, but every single quality is important for determining your church home. If you are currently looking for a church home, I pray you will ask the Lord to help you find the True Church that has all of these qualities. If you presently have a church home, I pray that you would seek the Lord’s guidance in evaluating your current church.

My church has all those qualities. I'm glad to be a part of it
There are so many things God wants His Church doing. That is a good list you gave. A few specifics:
1. Take care of the sick and dying. Old saints have earned that.
2. Take good care of your missionaries, preachers and Christian teachers. Local and foreign. Have a team to pray for and keep this going.
3. Spent a lot of time and money on the kids. In this environment I suggest each Church has a Christian home school co op. Very inexpensive. Have day care and school for working home school parents. The public schools will not be salvaged. Too far gone. There is no government regulation on home school co ops. Free from the heavy liberal hand of government. Do as the Bible teaches.
4. Don't forget baptism and communion. So important.
5. Don't bore the saints with half hearted music or preaching worship. Act like you mean it. It's serious stuff.
5. Educate the educators. Elders task.
6. Set the leadership up like Paul directed.
7. Have a good benevolence program. Saints first the Bible teaches.
8. Addiction help.
9. Lots of fellowship.
10. Lots of corporate prayer involving all the saints.
11. Cut out the unnecessary voting. Discussion yes. Deciding is up to the Elders. The deacons are the worker bees. You need a lot of them.
12. Give every saint a job they are Holy Spirit gifted for. Keeps em happy. Basically give them a loose rein. They will run with their gifts.
If you get this list and your list right the Church will flourish as God breath's on it thru His Holy Spirit.
Thank you, Dr. Dodd. You are such an encouragement to me. The church I am actively involved in has all these qualities! I have grown spiritually since being there as well!
Thank YOU. PRAISE JESUS !
I've been at my church for over a decade and it has all the attributes of a church that you have mentioned. That's why God put me there and I'm still there. I thank you precious Jesus.
