A Ripple Effect
He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” (Mark 16:15)
While D.L. Moody’s salvation story is one of my favorites, the story doesn’t end there. In fact, this was just the beginning, because D.L. Moody’s story is proof that you just never know the ripple effect your obedience can have on the lives of others.
After D.L Moody was saved, he began preaching all over England. One of the times, he was preaching to a huge crowd, and in that crowd was a man by the name of F.B. Meyer. After D.L. Moody’s message stirred Meyer’s heart, God began to use F.B. Meyer in a great way.
Later, F.B. Meyer was preaching on a college campus. One of the young men listening on campus was Wilbur Chapman. After hearing F.B. Meyer present the Gospel, Chapman gave his life to Christ and began to engage in ministry, including becoming involved in ministry with the YMCA.
While he was there, Chapman hired a brand-new Christian by the name of Billy Sunday to work for him. Billy Sunday was a famous evangelist who was saved during his career as a professional baseball player, and became part of the group which started crusades in Charlotte, North Carolina.
During the second crusade, Billy Sunday enlisted the help of Mordecai Ham to preach. On the night that Ham preached, a little boy by the name of Billy Graham walked down the aisle, gave his life to Christ; and the rest is history!
It is amazing to see how the stories of these men were so divinely intertwined over the years. Because all these men were faithful to God’s call and were obedient in spreading the Gospel, countless individuals came to know Christ. The impact of each of these men has spread far beyond themselves. They never knew on this side of heaven what kind of impact and influence they were having on people they never even met.
The same can be true for us. We will never know how our words and actions can impact others. Our only job is to be faithful in sharing the Gospel with those around us. Have you thrown a rock into a lake and noticed how the ripples spread far and wide? As we share, let’s pray that a ripple effect will ensue as the Lord’s message of hope continues to spread throughout the world.

My Pastor who passed away in December of 2022 would often tell the story of him going to see Billy Graham at the age of 15. He didn't want to go but his mom made him. He sat way in the back and by the time the sermon ended he walked all the way to the front to give his life to Jesus. RIP Pastor Ken
May I be a willing servant for Jesus so that others may be saved. I am so thankful that the people of God were willing to be servants for Christ for all those who have been saved already
I Hope and Pray that I can better serve God today. He has Given Me everything I have ever needed. I Pray that I can share his Love with Others. Thank You Lord, PRAISE JESUS !
