Submitting to God’s Will
“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it be to me according to your word.” Then the angel left her. (Luke 1:38)
If there was ever an example of complete submission to God’s will, it is the story of Mary in the Gospel of Luke. Mary was only a teenager and was engaged to be married. She was ready to start a new and exciting chapter in her life, when an angel told her that she would be the mother of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. This was quite an interruption!
I am sure Mary had many other plans besides getting pregnant before her wedding. Undoubtedly, she had numerous expectations of what her life would look like over the next few years. However, God had different plans to carry out His perfect will. Instead of objecting and refusing to cooperate, Mary submitted, willing to follow wherever the Lord was leading her.
I love what Mary says in Luke 1:38: “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it be to me according to your word.” Then the angel left her. It was hard for Mary when God’s timing didn’t align with her presuppositions. It caused some anxiety when people could count to nine and she would receive some shame. It was worrisome that she had no control over her child’s future. Even then, her life was lived under submission to the Father’s plan and will. Nothing is ever more important than that.
Has God interrupted your plans in an effort to lead you down a different path? Do you know what God has been calling you to do, but you have been reluctant to submit? If so, I pray you will follow Mary’s example. Even when it’s difficult, I pray you will choose to surrender all to the Lord God Almighty who always has your best interest at heart.

I was attending Westside when I felt a tug to go to a church closer to where I live. It took me 2 years to be obedient to that call. I will never know what I missed out on by not obeying sooner. I miss Westside but it has been exciting to be in my new church. I have more new friends and have had experiences that I wouldn't have had if I wouldn't have been obedient to the call
The Holy Spirit has definitely altered My Life. He has changed me . I 4Praise and Thank God for Grace and Mercy !
