How Are You Filled?
Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead be filled with the Spirit. (Ephesians 5:15-18)
When you become a follower of Christ, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within you. He guides you through life, convicts you when you make a mistake, and grants you wisdom and discernment as you make decisions. It is also in the Holy Spirit where we find true and lasting contentment. The Lord embodies everything we could ever want or need. If we look to Him and Him alone, we can rest assured that we will be fulfilled, and find peace.
Sadly, many of us are often tempted to look to something or someone other than God to find contentment and peace. We think if we can make enough money, we will be happy. Or, if we can just get this person to like us, we will be content. Or, if we live in a certain house, drive a certain car, or land a certain job, we will be fine. None of those earthly things will ever fulfill us the way we are hoping. Only the Lord can do that through His Spirit living within us.
Let me ask you some questions. How are you filled? Are you filled with the Holy Spirit, or are you trying to fill up on possessions, status, and the approval from other people?
The next time you find yourself looking to someone or something in the world for fulfillment, make a conscious effort to turn to your Heavenly Father. Ask Him to fill you with His Spirit. Ask Him to grant you the comfort, peace, and contentment that can only come from Him. When you do, He will answer your prayer, and you will be filled like never before!

Before I became born again, I felt like I was a puzzle with a piece missing. I kept floundering around trying to find that piece of the puzzle. Then a concerned Christian helped me find that piece. I needed to give my heart to Jesus. When I gave Him all of my life then I received the gift of the Holy Spirit. Now I am whole
