A Hand of Blessing
When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.” (Revelation 1:17-18)
When we were growing up, many of us longed for the hand of blessing from our father. We wanted him to say to us, “Good job, I am proud of you. God bless you, my son, God bless you, my daughter, I am so proud of you.” Maybe you didn't receive that blessing. Maybe your father felt that way but never spoke those words. Or maybe he never felt that way at all.
Let me remind you that you are not to look for that kind of affirmation because there is One greater in your life, who has already placed His hand on you to bless you. Just like He did for John (as we read in today’s passage), He wants you to have that kind of image. He wants you to have that kind of sense in your heart and your life.
Where do we get comfort? From what He says, “Do not be afraid.” I don't know what lies ahead for us. John didn't know what the future held for him, but Jesus' words were, “Do not be afraid.”
God wants you to live a full life now. For whatever time He gives you, He places His hand of blessing and comfort upon you. Remember, blessing comes from whose hand is on you. May we never forget that truth.

Thank You, Jesus for putting your hand on me and claiming me as yours
Yes! Thank You, Lord Jesus for your shed blood on the cross for my sin to deliver me from hell. I was lost and now I am found because of your great and merciful love. No matter what my feelings tell me from day to day or what my ears hear or my eyes see, You Lord Jesus are mighty to save me from myself as I place my trust in You and You alone! The battle is won!l Death has been defeated! Hallelujah!! Amen!!
