God Has a Plan for Your Life
Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. (Proverbs 19:21)
God has a plan for your life, no matter how you have botched it in the past. Read that again.
Simon Peter had a journey from fisherman to follower, from the one who had spiritual insight, to the one who was a coward denying the Lord, to the one who would be the leader of the apostolic band in the early church. This is a story of reclamation and redemption.
If you have ever thought that you have messed up so badly that God could never use you, think again. That's why I love the Scriptures. We see not only the good things about some of these men and women in Scripture, but we also see the bad stuff. When we read stories like Peter’s, we are reminded that there is hope for us.
Years ago, in my first year of seminary, I had just come out of the house of one of my friends. I was getting ready to get into my car when I saw a guy from college. As he looked at me with amazement, he said, “What are you doing up here?” I said, “I surrendered my life to preach and I'm going to seminary.” He said, “You?” I said, “Yes.” He said, “Thank the Lord! If God can use you, maybe there's a chance for me, too.”
You need to realize that regardless of how badly you have blown it, your life is not over. Maybe, you botched it and you ended up with a divorce. Your life is not over. Maybe, you made some decisions that affected your life physically or financially; you are not done yet. Your life is a journey. You are a sojourner, one who is on the journey home. Your story is very powerful, and God has a plan for your life!

I seem to botch things all the time. I'll think I am where I am supposed to be and fall flat on my face again. I need to be listening more urgently
