A Life of Submission
Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people. Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves. Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor. (1 Peter 2:13-17)
Submission is a highly misunderstood concept. There is a rebellious nature inside us that says, “I want to be my own boss. I want to be the captain of my own soul. I want to rule my life. I want to be in charge. When it comes to submission, I would prefer that people submit to me, and everything would be just fine.”
Scripture tells us that we are to be in submission, even though we consider it our right to be in control. Doing as we please and thinking we know better, was the very temptation that Satan used in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve. This caused them to break the only commandment they had. They refused to submit to God, thinking they knew better than God. They thought He was hiding something from them; they believed the evil one.
No one can make you submit. We literally do so on our own free will. When you submit, you are exercising your own free will, choosing to honor God, as you submit. The act of submission is an act of freedom and the exercise of free will. You are not losing your free will when you submit; rather, you are exercising your free will when you do submit.
Living in submission like Jesus means you leave all things to the Judge. That is what Jesus did. He knew God had a plan; He knew that God was in control. Submit to the Lord today!

Proverbs 3:5-6
nTrust in the LORD with all your heart
n and lean not on your own understanding;
n6 in all your ways submit to him,
n and he will make your paths straight.
When I first became a Christian, I thought I could be a Christian and still live my life the way I wanted to. Once I gave my whole heart to Jesus I then knew what true submission is and am now living a full and contented life
Amen. I submit to God, and to authority in my life.
