Move Away From Divorce
Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. – Hebrews 13:4
As we discussed yesterday, we are to treat marriage honorably. In essence, that command is alluding to not only the area of sex but also avoiding divorce.
Maybe you are reading this and you are on your second marriage, third marriage, or more. Regardless of where you are, you and your spouse are at a new beginning. I am not here to give you guilt over decisions that were made by you, with or without your consent.
Instead, you must embrace marriage and move away from divorce. You are to be completely committed to each other regardless of health reasons. That includes mental health and physical health. You need to be committed for the days to come.
If I’m being honest, marriage is difficult on a good day. My father-in-law was a pastor for many decades. He once said, “I don't believe in divorce, murder, yes, but divorce, no.” Marriage is a difficult season. But just because it’s difficult doesn’t mean God can’t use it for your good and His glory. God wants to knock off some rough edges that don't look like Jesus in our lives. And He often allows us to have a spouse who He will use as a chisel in our lives.
Remember, God wants to use marriage in your life not only to be a blessing to you but to make you holy. The goal is not to be happy; it is to be holy! As you live a holy life, you will find happiness and the joy that God intended you to experience.

I never have been married, but I do have Christian friends that help me get the bad chiseled out. It's painful at the time ? but I become more Christ like
Pastor, it is not always easy to stay with an alcoholic. I planned to stay forever with my spouse but he changed and it affected our children. I never remarried because I honored marriage. I knew I would die if I stayed in that marriage.
Unfortunately it is sometimes out of our control! I do not believe in divorce. But my spouse would NOT try to keep our marriage together! I cried, begged, prayed! I did everything humanly possible! I hate divorce! It’s wrong but when someone has someone else you can’t do anything about it! I’m a Christian! I believe in the power of prayer! I don’t understand why this is happening! I feel horrible about myself and my situation! But God knows my heart! Yes I would love to have a new outcome! But he doesn’t! What do I do?
Keep the faith. Someone bettter is coming soon.
