Stay Close To Jesus
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” - Hebrews 13:5-6
If you are a follower of Jesus, the thing that first captivated your heart was to know Christ. Later, the thing that called you to serve Him flowed out of intimacy with Him, as you spent time with Him.
As you began to read the Word of God and allowed the Word to come alive in you, the Spirit of God began to speak to you in your inner self. Suddenly, this flowed out of your life from that initial intimacy with Him.
This is what the writer is saying in today’s key passage. Regardless of what might come, your confidence in living the life that God has given you flows from intimacy with Him. I pray you are experiencing that kind of intimacy with God right now.
But maybe that’s not where you find yourself today. Maybe you are feeling dry in your faith. Maybe you have been serving for so long that you have forgotten why you started following Jesus in the first place. You are just going through the motions, and they are leaving you empty. You don't need another church. You don't need a new style of music. You don't need a new translation of the Bible to read. You just need to come back home into your relationship with Christ.
Out of that relationship, power will flow in your life. Joy will flow in your life. Peace will come. You will find that your steps will be ordered by God, and your journey will become a joy rather than a chore.
I pray that you will hear what I am saying to you. The real power in your life is with Christ! Don’t wait another second to draw near to Him and experience all of the joy, peace, and blessing that comes from a close relationship with your Savior.

I accepted Jesus as my Savior when I was 11 years old, but I lived my life the way I wanted to. I got to a point where I felt like I was a puzzle with a piece missing. A fellow classmate knew what I needed. And gave me some good advice of how to accept the Holy Spirit. I didn't think I deserved to be filled with the Holy Spirit. But once I realized that I needed to give Jesus my whole life then I accepted the Holy Spirit and have been living as a complete person ever since. I know I am loved
Thank you for those much needed words of encouragement and direction.
A wonderful reminder of how powerful christ can be in our life, if we will let him. Thank you Dr Dodd
Hebrews 13:5 has been a needed verse for me for a while now and it's always comforting and a reminder of God's faithfulness
