Value the Right Thing
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5)
Companionship is a powerful thing, but the almighty monetary unit makes for a strange bedfellow. Too many of us are sucked into the vortex of making friends with either the abundance of wealth or the desire for the abundance of having wealth. Both postures will leave you empty and dry, either never arriving or never having enough. If not carefully examined, our personal relationship with our measurable resources can overshadow the greatest value.
In this Scripture passage, the companionship of money does not hold water, according to the writer of Hebrews. Instead, learning to be content with what you have is the admonition. Then those words appear, Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. The real value in life is companionship with God. His promise to never leave you is more solid than you will ever know!
Probe your heart today, and answer the question this passage so clearly asks, “Do I love what money and things provide more than the sweet pleasantness of the presence of the King?” While many of us would quickly respond, “No,” that may not be the truth. Remember, the Scripture tells us our hearts can deceive us. If we are more sensitive today to our bottom line than our line to heaven, then the values we possess tell us we are being controlled by our possessions. This is not a great place to be on any day. Why? Money will soon depart, with no goodbyes and no tears! The good news is, “With Jesus, we have the One who will never leave us nor forsake us when we are in need!”

There was a short time in my life when money was flowing pretty good, so I can understand the trap of wanting more. Most of my life I didn't have the funds to get anything I wanted. I know what it is like to be content with what I have. The less I have the more I can concentrate on following Jesus
Well put Betty! ?
