Follow Godly Examples
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me – put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. (Philippians 4:8-9)
As Paul wraps up his letter to the Philippians, he challenges them to follow his example while they continue to pursue Christ. If this seems like a bold statement, there was never a person who lived the Christian life with greater power, transparency, and victory than the Apostle Paul.
Paul’s challenge to the Philippians is the same challenge we should embrace today. We need to find positive, godly examples to follow in this life. Much value can come from mentors and wise counsel who have gone before you.
Proverbs 13:20 says, Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm. Who you spend time with and learn from tend to dictate the way you act, speak, and think. Therefore, surround yourself with people who will influence your thoughts and actions in a positive way.
Do you have people in your life who are pouring wisdom and encouragement into you? Are you seeking godly counsel as you walk through life and make decisions? If not, I encourage you to ask God to put someone in your path who can mentor you and guide you in a positive direction. This is a prayer that God would love to answer. When He does, you will be amazed to see the work He performs in your life through the wise people around you.

Father may I hear wise counsel from someone today.
My husband and some great friends were my wise counsel for 42 years. He has been HOME three years and so many have stepped up. I deeply appreciate friends who are gut-honest with me and are not afraid to let me know when I need to rethink a situation. God's family is the best.
