Don’t Get Distracted
"Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, not by eating ceremonial foods, which is of no benefit to those who do so." - Hebrews 13:9
In today’s world, it’s easy to get swept up by the latest trends and ideas, especially on social media. We’re constantly bombarded with messages that claim to offer truth and wisdom, but not all of it aligns with God’s Word. The world often promotes a version of “truth” that is out of balance, and as believers, we must be careful not to let these distractions distort our faith.
The Scripture reminds us not to be deceived by the lies of culture. It warns us to guard our hearts and minds against teachings that sound enticing but stray from the truth of God’s Word. In an age where it’s easy to get our theology from influencers or trending videos, we must remain rooted in the Bible. God’s Word is our unshakable foundation and anything that contradicts it should be rejected.
As the saying goes, “Heresy is truth out of balance.” This means that even something that appears to be true can lead us astray if it’s not in harmony with Scripture. We are called to live in the tension of faith and works, grace and truth. If we emphasize one over the other, we lose the richness and depth of the Gospel. Faith without works is dead but works without faith is meaningless.
So today, let’s commit to holding tightly to God’s truth. Let’s choose to lean on His Word, not the opinions of the world. And let’s strive to live in the beautiful balance of Scripture, where faith and action work hand in hand to glorify God.
