Grace Has Appeared
For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. (Titus 2:11)
I am a sportsman. Since my early years, I have always enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. It might be a surprise to many, but the anticipation of seeing an animal move through the woods or waiting for a fish to take a lure, is exhilarating to many of us. Even though you were expecting and waiting for the encounter to occur, the actual encounter (which could happen at any moment) literally takes your breath away. God’s grace appearing has that same sense of joy and expectation for me, as well.
If you were like me before you met Christ, you thought you were on the right path. Oblivious to your need for salvation, you were headed down your merry path until the proverbial lights came on, and you saw your desperate situation. In the twinkling of an eye, you felt separated from God and you knew it was your personal sin which had caused the rift. Just think for a moment. You had not felt that way before, while you navigated through life carrying all of your sin on your shoulders. In that moment of conviction brought on by the Holy Spirit’s work in your heart, a jolt of spiritual reality surged through your very soul.
Then grace appeared! Hallelujah, grace appeared! Before you could take the next step, God spoke into your heart about His provision in advance for your spiritual renewal. Jesus has paid the price for the forgiveness of your sins; He has done that for you. You had not seen it before, but finally, your eyes were focused on what you had always wanted. You saw it, you felt the tug, and you responded in faith and repentance to the grace of God.
Like seeing a deer appear in the early morning light, or the gentle bite on the end of a line, what you have come for has finally happened. God’s grace appeared and you received His salvation. You are now committed – “hook, line and sinker” to the One who came for you…once a fish, now a fisher of men…and all because the grace of God appeared.

I get that exhilarating, tingly feeling just thinking about that moment. It is exciting to follow Jesus
My husband, who is now with Jesus, had been a hunter since childhood. He used to tell me that it was as much about being in God's peaceful creation than about getting that trophy buck. Just being in the woods surrounded by God's beautiful scenery brought him to a heart of worship. Because of God's grace, Ron is now eternally worshipping Abba Father. I look forward to that day.
