The Gift of Security
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.” ( John 10:27-29)
During this Christmas season, many of us will give and receive gifts from those we love. After all, this is a time of year that is overflowing with thoughtfulness and generosity. But do you realize that, if you are a child of God, you have already been given the best gift you can ever receive?
The gift I’m talking about is the gift of security in your relationship with the Lord. Scripture promises us that once we accept Jesus as our Savior, nothing and no one can ever take that relationship away from us.
To one degree or another, all of us desire to feel secure. As parents, we want to provide the greatest security for our children, and our heavenly Father feels the same way about us. In our relationship with Christ, we are offered genuine security, both now and forever. Absolutely nothing can separate us from God’s love.
God is in the business of providing comfort and security for His people in their sadness, loneliness, persecution, loss, and pain. In fact, you might find it easier to sense His presence with you when life is hard. The Lord has promised to always be with each of us: He will never leave us nor forsake us.
So, whatever you are walking through this Christmas season, may you be reminded that there is joy, peace, and comfort to be found in the security that comes from Christ alone. In Him, you can be confident that you are safe and that you are loved. May you never take that gift for granted!
