Living Out What You Want to Pass On
Anyone who does not provide for their relatives...has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. - 1 Timothy 5:8
If you want to influence your children, be an example of how you desire your children to live. In other words, just live it out. Your influence is extremely powerful. If you want your children to be pure and to live righteously, live righteously in front of them. The influence from your life means more than you could ever imagine.
If you want your children to choose godly friends, choose godly friends yourself. Make that your lifestyle. If you want them to care and minister to other people, be a servant yourself. If you want your children to handle money with great stewardship to God, show them how to give. Let them see how you handle stewardship in your life.
If you want your children to be encouragers of other people, don’t talk negatively about others. Find the good in other people and communicate it verbally. They will copy that example and always look for the good. If you are constantly gossiping about others and letting them in on your negative thoughts, they will struggle to be encouragers. They will follow your example.
If you want your children to be good partners to their spouses, always love your spouse and honor them. If you want your children to take care of your needs when you are older, be involved in the lives of your parents right now.
Your kids are always watching. Don’t just say it—live it. Like Lois and Eunice did for Timothy, let your life be a visible legacy of faith.
