Are You Serving?
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. – Hebrews 10:24
God wants us to be involved in ministry. He wants us to serve. He doesn't want you to just sit and learn things. He wants you to learn Scripture to do things. It is important for us to act out the love of Christ. It is important for us to act out the heart of service Jesus modeled for us. That is why you need to be part of a local church, and you need to be part of a small group.
It is very important that you find a ministry where you can connect with people and that you can be involved in personally. You can do that through small groups and other ministry opportunities at your church, but the onus is on you to do good deeds and express the love of Christ.
If you are not connected to the body of Christ and are not part of a church, there is no one to spur you on in your ministry. There is no one to be connected to you, and there is no one to encourage you to do the right thing. You are simply floating out there.
Today, many people are professional “floaters.” They are just floating around, saying, “I'm part of the big body of Christ.” You need to remember that 90% of the time, the word “ekklesia” in the Bible is the word for churches and refers specifically to the local church. You need to be connected to the body, and you need to be doing ministry out of that local church.
Are you involved in doing ministry work? Are you serving in your church? Are you serving in your community? If not, I would encourage you to take the time right now to ask God to open doors for you to be able to serve and minister to those around you.

I came to a time in my life when I thought I could retire from serving. God had other plans for me. You never stop serving when you belong to Jesus. There is much work to be done.
