Distraction-Free Time
But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. (Matthew 6:6)
The world we live in is filled with distractions. Everywhere we look, something or someone is begging for our attention. Our phones are constantly buzzing. The TV is chattering in the background. Our desks at work are covered in “To-Do” lists. Our e-mail inbox is overflowing. There is always something to be looking at, focusing on, or doing.
As followers of Jesus, it is imperative that before we step into each distraction-filled day, we take some distraction-free time to spend with our Heavenly Father and focus on Him.
I know this might seem impossible. You might barely get five minutes a day to yourself. I can promise you that carving out time to spend with the Lord and focusing on what He has to say to you and teach you is time you won’t regret spending.
Your life will have more peace when you get alone with God and get aligned with heaven. When you are aligned with heaven, you will stop looking at yourself, your profession, your chore list, or your cell phone. You will even stop looking at your family. You might say, “All of those things are important.” Yes, they are, but they will not make sense until you personally begin to focus on the Throne first.
I pray that you will be diligent today and in the coming days to spend some time alone with Jesus and align yourself with His plan and purpose for you. As you do, I pray that you will be overwhelmed in the best way with how God honors your obedience in focusing on Him first and foremost.
