Be a Blessing to Others
Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. (1 Peter 4:8)
We are to live as a blessing to other people. It’s a simple statement, but one that carries a lot of weight. As followers of Christ, we show God’s love to others when we live our lives in a way that blesses them. We further God’s Kingdom when we bless others.
God has called you to understand that you are not in competition with other people. God won’t compare me to some other pastor.
He won’t compare me to some other husband, or some other son. He looks at me, He looks at you, and there is no comparison. We are not in competition with other people. We are not in competition with other denominations. We are not in competition with other churches. We are on a journey. Therefore, we don’t do comparisons.
Instead, we should be focused on being a compliment and an encouragement to others. Many people are going through a lot of difficult things. You might be going through a difficult time right now, but that tough time will not last forever. God may use that difficult time to knock off some rough edges in your life that don't look like Jesus. In addition to what He is doing in your life through this struggle, your circumstances could help you to relate to someone who is passing through the very same thing.
There are always people around us who need encouragement. They could be sitting next to you, or they might be in your home. They may be where you work. Maybe, a neighbor plowed the snow in front of your yard trying to be an encouragement to you. In reality, he is the one who actually needed it. Live with your eyes wide open, and be what God has called you to be. Live a life that blesses others!
