You Are Chosen
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. (1 Peter 2:9)
One of the greatest feelings is to feel chosen. There is nothing like the feeling when someone says your name and then follows it with the phrase, “I choose you.” Your friends chose you to be on their team in a game of pickup basketball. Your boss chose you for a promotion after considering many candidates. Your spouse decided to marry you over anyone else on the planet. It feels great to be chosen.
The Scripture passage from 1 Peter says, “you are chosen.” In other words, God picked you to be on His team. He gave you His uniform, and He placed you on the first string. You have been chosen by Him. Isn’t that a great feeling?
I don't know about you, but that makes me feel very special. Out of all the people in the world, God chose me! He chose you! We are chosen! We should be celebrating that we have been chosen. Don't worry about whom has not been chosen. Instead, we need to celebrate that God chose us.
Not only do we need to celebrate being chosen, but we need to live like we’ve been chosen. Many of us live like we have been forgotten, cast aside, and disregarded. We believe the lie that God doesn’t care about us and that He is not interested in what is happening in our lives. Nothing could be further from the truth! He chose us as His children. He wanted us to be a part of His family. He cares about us and He is intensely interested in every little detail of our life.
I pray that you will live every day remembering that you are chosen by Almighty God!
