Serve the Lord
When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.” (John 13:12-14)
There will be moments in your life when God gives you an opportunity to serve, and it will be uncomfortable. It will break the pattern. Instead of just overlooking the opportunity and going on with your life, you need to move out of your comfort zone in order to serve those in need.
We are called to serve. In fact, you are not a mature disciple (or a maturing disciple in process), unless you are a serving disciple. I realize that many of you are serving, and I want to applaud you for that service. However, for the overwhelming majority of people within every church, they wait to be served, or they are waiting to be asked to serve. For many people, that is the more comfortable option.
On the contrary, you should serve without being asked. We need to be men and women who are sensitive to the “ask” from the Lord, and not necessarily someone who wants to fill a slot on a committee. God wants you to be sensitive to His leading, and that includes the Holy Spirit prompting you to serve. When you are obedient to His call, He promises to bless you.
That word “blessed” doesn't mean happy. It doesn't necessarily mean you will feel great when you serve. In reality, you will, but actually that word means “fulfilled.” In other words, it conveys that deep sense of, “I did what I was supposed to do. I fulfilled the walking orders. I completed the task. I have fulfilled my destiny.” When you serve, you will have a great sense of inward fulfillment, not because something was done for you, but rather because you did something for someone else. I pray that you don’t miss out on that kind of fulfillment, simply because you are afraid of stepping out of your comfort zone. Instead, choose to get uncomfortable, and serve where you see a need.

I do a quilting ministry for veterans and for baptisms. 'Do everything for the glory of God". Thank you for a wonderful devotion.
I have stepped out of church retirement 3 times. I love serving the Lord and people. I am at a small church where we serve children who come from unchurched families. And I serve in other ministries as well. I love to serve my Lord
