Enjoying Your Work
Moreover, when God gives any man wealth and possessions, and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his work -- this is a gift of God. (Ecclesiastes 5:19)
Do you enjoy what you do for a living? Whether it is in an office at home, on the road, on the jobsite, or on the Internet, do you actually enjoy your work? This is a basic question which must be asked and answered by all of us. How do you know if you enjoy your work?
You know you enjoy your work, if you find fulfillment in your tasks. This doesn’t mean you have to like all of your tasks, but it does mean you experience a sense of joy when you complete your assigned tasks. You actually have a good time doing what you have either been trained to do or have learned to do by yourself.
You know you enjoy your work when you think about what you do and can smile. There is a great sense of satisfaction in knowing you have a place in the “machine” of whatever you do. You actually look forward to engaging with others to do your job. You also know you enjoy your work when you think that others should consider doing the same thing. You want them to have that sense of destiny which you have as they join the “labor force.”
Why is this important? Because God created all of this! The Scripture nails it down for us when it declares that the ability to work, enjoy where you work, and are truly happy in your work, are gifts from God. Have you thought of your job that way recently? It is a gift of God in order to provide you with wealth and possessions…and that sense of enjoyment in life, which only labor can provide. That’s a good thing!
Today, stop long enough to acknowledge God’s hand of provision in your life through your job. Thank Him for that very special need which He has met for you and your family. It really came from Him. If you are looking for work, don’t forget to look up. He is in the business of personnel placement and has special work in a special place just for you. As you look for work (that’s your job), enjoy it and watch what God will do!
“Dear Father, help me to never take for granted the ability you have given me to work, as well as the privilege of enjoying what I do for a living. It all comes from You, for You and through You. Thank You for putting the right people in my life to make all of this happen! In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

I had a 37 year career as an RN and loved it.
I was a teacher for 26 years and loved every day working with children.
I had a job that was in a secured office. It was also a relaxed atmosphere. I had weekends and holidays off. But, I really liked my job after I retired because I used the training I received years ago. I worked with the public and loved it. I was free to talk about Jesus and church and show the love of God and Jesus
