Struggles Are Guaranteed
You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. (Genesis 50:20)
In your life as a follower of Christ, it is guaranteed that there will be some struggles along the way. “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
If you are walking through something that does not meet with your satisfaction or approval, remember that you are not in charge. God is in charge! He is the authority. We must remember that God does not serve us; rather, we are to serve Him.
I think about some of the things I have gone through which have hurt me physically. These things have created struggles and financial pain in our family's life. When I recall things I've gone through, which have affected relationships and have impacted my life spiritually, I shake my head and say, “God, I don't get it.”
Maybe that's where you are today. You don't understand why God is allowing His children to go through certain things in their lives. Guess what? You will spend your life trying to get it. We need to embrace and embody that regardless of what we go through, our lives belong to Him. Whatever we go through can be used to glorify Him and honor Him. You will not be able to figure that out, and sometimes you will not be happy with it.
I don't care what you have heard from any pulpit. You need to realize God has not called your destiny to be happiness. Your destiny is holiness; and holiness is described as living under Him, who is the authority. The sooner we get there, the greater peace we will have.
