Jesus Is Coming Back

Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen. – Revelation 1:7

There’s a song from the 1960s written by Larry Norman that shares a heartbreaking picture of what it will look like for those who are left behind after Jesus returns. The song goes like this:

“Life was filled with guns and war
And everyone got trampled on the floor
I wish we'd all been ready

Children died the days grew cold
A piece of bread could buy a bag of gold
I wish we'd all been ready

There's no time to change your mind
The son has come and you've been left behind
You've been left behind
You've been left behind.”

These are tough lyrics to read, but they will end up being true life experience for some people. There will be people who will be left behind after Jesus comes back. It’s hard to hear, but we can’t ignore the truth. That’s why we need to be ready for Jesus to return. But this doesn’t mean only worrying about ourselves and our eternity. It means being concerned with where others will spend eternity as well.

With this in mind, is there someone the Holy Spirit is putting on your heart right now with whom you can share your faith? Is there someone in your life who needs to hear the message of the gospel? If so, begin praying and asking the Lord to give you boldness, courage, and opportunity to talk to this person about Jesus. You never know how God could use your obedience to impact someone else’s eternity.
