Defeating Anxiety
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (Philippians 4:6)
Sometimes, when we are struggling with anxiety, we feel very lonely. We think we are all by ourselves. Throughout Scripture, we are reassured that God will never leave us once we give our lives to Christ.
The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit comes to indwell you, and you will never lose His presence. You may not feel His presence, but God does not want you to live by emotions. Even though you don't feel Him in difficult times, that doesn't mean that He is not there.
Many times, we embrace anxious thoughts. This is a personal choice. You either choose to be anxious or you choose not to be anxious. Paul writes, “Rejoice in the Lord always,” (Philippians
4:4) not sometimes, but always! I don't care what situation you are in; you choose your attitude.
Christianity doesn't protect you. Your walk with God doesn't protect you from going through difficult seasons in your life. However, walking with Jesus and choosing the right attitude of joy can help you take that journey to a new level. In the middle of going through difficult times, find the humor and the joy; and choose that kind of attitude. Thereby, you will be able to stand when most people are on their face. If you want to defeat anxiety in your life, remember that attitudes come by choice.
