Do Not Quench the Holy Spirit
Do not quench the Spirit. (1 Thessalonians 5:19)
The word, “quench” in the original language means “to extinguish” or “to suppress.” Some people don't feel comfortable when the Holy Spirit begins to move in the body of Christ. They get very uncomfortable. They say, “No, No! Let's calm this thing down.” The thought of the Holy Spirit being active in their lives makes them nervous, and when this happens, they quench the Holy Spirit.
It is possible for you to take a bucket of spiritual water and throw it on the Holy Spirit. This stifles His work, and limits His movement within the body of Christ. We are afraid that things will get out of hand.
Regardless of the reason why you may want to quench the Holy Spirit, it affects you. Whether you don't want to respond to Him, you don't like being uncomfortable, or you don't want to do what He is telling you to do; you will put a wet blanket on the movement of the Spirit of God. Is that what you really want?
Many believers are missing out on God doing something wonderful in their life because they are uncomfortable. It is possible to quench the Holy Spirit by something you say, or by something you refuse to do. Don’t be someone who quenches the Holy Spirit out of fear or uncertainty. Instead, move forward in life with trust and faith in the Trinity, knowing that whatever the Holy Spirit is doing in your life is for your good and God’s glory.
Are you following the lead of the Holy Spirit? Or have you been quenching and suppressing His power and guidance?

I was afraid when I was first filled with the Holy Spirit. I was prompted to boldly say things for the Lord and for people around me who were being oppressed. That was not my nature as I was an introvert. I didn't know enough about living for Jesus then so I wanted the Holy Spirit to tone down. I regret that decision but I have learned how to grow in my faith since then. I let the Holy Spirit guide me through each day.
I remember when I was baptized in The Holy Spirit . I felt bold. I overreacted on something that was a mistake . I have over time saw things much differently. I Believe that I grow with the Holy Spirit's Guidance every day. PRAISE GOD !
I was never afraid of the Holy Spirit coming into my heart....I thought maybe when the Holy Spirit came there would be a flutter and still think that
Sounds silly I know!. Maybe just maybe. Who knows only God
Westside uses Hillsong and Bethal music in worship. Next will you allow speaking in tongues and prophetising like in Acts, then adding to scripture as in the Charismatic so we can show we're filled with the Holy Spirit? Don't get away from sound theology.
