Jesus Sends Us
On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” (John 20:19-21)
The disciples were huddled together, scared to death of the Jews. They were afraid they would be next for the cross, because their names were already written on an arrest warrant. Out of nowhere, Jesus appeared to them, and materialized right before their eyes! He appeared to them and said, “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” (John 20:21)
Because the disciples were afraid, they were meeting behind locked doors. Remember, the cross made cowards out of the disciples. However, after the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the disciples became warriors for Christ!
After you accept Christ as Lord of your life, you turn from sin and place your faith in Jesus. You have a powerful message that Jesus wants the world to hear. There is hope beyond the grave and there is forgiveness of sin, all in the name of Jesus! You have been sent specifically, not only into your community, but into the entire world to tell the world that He is alive! “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”
