The Dangers Of Pride
In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. - 1 Peter 5:5-7
The epitome of not having a teachable spirit is pride. Pride will not allow you to be teachable because you are self-contained and full of yourself. If you are full of pride, it is the quickest way to defeat. Scripture tells us that pride is not good. It was the first sin of the evil one. In fact, it cost him his place in heaven. For many of us, pride will cost us our place, as well. But how does that happen exactly?
Well, Scripture gives us some insight. There are three reasons why pride will cost us our place.
1. Others notice it and take note of the arrogance.
People can see pride and smell it a mile away! Pride will hurt your witness and your testimony as a believer. That is why having a teachable spirit is very powerful.
2. God sees it before anyone, and you will be opposed.
The Bible says, “God opposes the proud and gives grace to the humble.” The surest way to get God against you is to be full of yourself. It’s that simple.
3. Real humility is rewarded with God’s blessing.
You can trust God to put you in a place of leadership in the right place and at the right time when you choose to practice humility. A great saint of yesteryear said, “It is a terrible thing for a man to be blessed with great opportunities and abilities, and then to show himself not worthy. God will put him aside and look for another vessel to bless.” Pride is the surest way to be put aside. So if you want to avoid that, you need to live a life of humility.

May I always be humble and have a teachable spirit. There is always more to learn. I looked to my elders when I was younger. They had experienced more of life than me. I wanted to be prepared and I still need to be prepared
