Why Support Israel?
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure.” – Psalm 122:6
As believers, we need to be linked with the nation of Israel. We need to support them. We need to pray for them because God’s Word instructs us to do so. But why is that the case? That’s the exact question we’re going to be answering over the next couple of days. In this devotion, we’re going to look at three reasons why we should support Israel. And then tomorrow, I pray you’ll come back as we discuss four additional reasons. Let’s dive in.
The first reason we should support and pray for Israel is that Israel was where the entire ministry of Jesus occurred. Jesus did His ministry and teaching in Israel. He was also persecuted, arrested, tortured, crucified, and killed in Israel. He died shedding His blood on the cross for your forgiveness and my forgiveness. He was buried in the area where the cross was located. On the third day, He rose from the dead; He made Himself known in His post-resurrection appearances in Israel. Finally, He ascended into heaven from Israel, specifically from the Mount of Olives, and He is coming back to that same place. Everything that God did through His Son, Jesus, was in Israel.
The second reason we are to support Israel is that Israel will be the location where Jesus will return. Jesus is coming back to the very same place He carried out His earthly ministry. If you want to be an eyewitness to Jesus’ second coming, you must be in Israel. Specifically, He will set foot on the Mount of Olives. According to the Old Testament, it will split in two and be separated from north to south.
The third reason we should pray for and support Israel is that Israel was where the church started. The early church started in Israel, and after Pentecost, it kept growing. The people in the church were engaged in fellowship, and they were connected. They were involved with each other, praying for each other, and longing to hear what God was speaking to them through the apostles’ teaching.
They were sharing with the believers what Jesus did, all the things He said, and how the Old Testament was fulfilled in Christ. They were a very eclectic group. They didn't have a church building; rather, they met in each other's homes. Many people were saved and gave their lives to Jesus through the work of the early church, and it all started in Israel.
As I said before, I encourage you to come back tomorrow as we continue this discussion and learn more about why we support the nation of Israel.

I am so thankful that Jesus died on the cross for me and shed His blood to cleanse me from my sins. Even He knew how painful it was to be nailed to a cross but He let it happen so that I could be connected to Him. He loves me so much â¤
I'm so thankful you posted this--I'd really like your guidance, if I may ask. I have two sort of new friends, who I thought were Christians--it's obvious now, they are not. The lady of the couple is virulently anti-Israel, they are both pro-Hamas. I broke off contact with them, when I saw where they were leaning. The lady called me a few weeks ago, saying she "really misses me". I don't know whether to get together with them (in order to hopefully evangelize), or wash my hands of them, and just pray for them. I trust your insight, if you could reply, I'd really appreciate it--have been wrestling with this since she called me...and thank you so much! Praying for Israel continually...
I Believe in The Holy TRINITY ! Praise God...
