Something Greater
For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come. –Hebrews 13:14
This life is temporary, but it’s easy to forget that. We get caught up in our daily routines: work, family, goals, and even struggles. While all these things are important, we need to remember that this world is not our final destination. We are only passing through.
Hebrews 13:14 reminds us that our true home is in heaven. Everything we experience on earth—both the good and the bad—will one day come to an end. Our focus should be on eternity, living in a way that reflects our hope in what’s to come.
So, how do we live with that eternal perspective? Start by asking yourself: what are you investing in? Are you putting all your energy into things that won’t last, or are you building up treasures in heaven by following Jesus and serving others?
This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t enjoy life or take care of our responsibilities. But it does mean we need to keep the right focus. When you go through tough times, remember that they’re temporary. And when things are going well, remember to thank God for His blessings, knowing that your true reward is in heaven.
Take a moment today to reflect on how you can live with eternity in mind. Maybe it’s spending more time with God, helping someone in need, or trusting Him more in your challenges. Whatever it is, always remember: this world is not your permanent home. We are looking forward to something far greater.

Thanks for the reminder! Life has a way of stealing our thoughts from the eternal and focusing on the temporal! Blessings to you Pastor Dodd!
Yes, thank you for the reminder. It is so easy to get caught up in the things and events of the world. Help me Lord to keep you the focus of my life.
I start out each day with my devotions and time with the Lord. It is easy to get caught up in the world. There is so much to pull us away from living for Jesus. I would be lost without Jesus in my life. I have unbelievers around me all the time and try to drag us Christians down. I try to pray for them to turn to Jesus themselves.
